Enhance Your Ability to Understand and Influence Others

Emotions are what drive us and what drive us off the path. We cannot persuade without understanding them well.

It’s not the smartest people that are the most successful or the most fulfilled in life. You possibly know people who are academically very intelligent and yet are socially inept and unsuccessful at work or in their personal relationships. Your intelligence quotient (IQ) isn’t enough on its own to be successful in life. To be successful, emotional intelligence has an importance as great as intellectual ability (IQ).

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability of a person to identify, control, and evaluate his/her emotions, as well as of the people around. People with a higher EQ are better suited as team players as well as in leadership roles over those who have a lower EQ.

Emotional intelligence was ranked sixth in the World Economic Forum’s list of the top 10 skills that employees will need to possess to thrive in the workplace of the future.

Researchers have shown that our success at work or in life depends on Emotional Intelligence 80% and only 20% of intellect.

The ability to control and express our own emotions is important, and so is our ability to respond, interpret and understand the emotions of people around us. Understanding the root causes of our emotions and how to use them can help us to effectively identify who we are and how we interact with others.

People with highly developed emotional intelligence are less defensive and more open to feedback, especially when it involves areas of improvement.
