MBTI® : Improving Personal and Team Effectiveness

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) – is a versatile assessment of personality type indicating differing psychological preferences based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological type.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) indicates your personality preferences in four dimensions:

  • Where you focus your attention – Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I)
  • The way you take in information – Sensing (S) or INtuition (N)
  • How you make decisions – Thinking (T) or Feeling (F)
  • How you deal with the world – Judging (J) or Perceiving (P)

The MBTI tool has a long and prestigious history, all of which lead to its huge success today as the world’s most widely used and recognised personality tool.

Good communication is the basis for all human interaction, and is therefore essential to the smooth running of any business. Clear, precise communication can reduce wasted effort and resources, and avoid frustrating delays.

There are many benefits of effective team communication that can help your business become more productive. When a team is able to work together through good communication, it can bring more revenue to the company’s bottom line.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) tool provides a framework for understanding individual personality strengths and differences and how they fit together to enhance team success.

When a team is able to communicate effectively, each member is better able to understand his teammates. Cultural diversity becomes a benefit, because the team communicates so well that mutual understanding helps to facilitate progress.

Understanding personality is one of the keys to improving team performance. Approximately 40% of teams do not know how to reconcile differences or resolve interpersonal conflicts. Teams who understand their personality types can capitalize on their strengths and minimize their potential weaknesses.

Benefits of MBTI® for team development:

  • Identifying strengths, resources and potential weaknesses within a team
  • Improving communication throughout the team
  • Helping leaders identify an action plan to improve team effectiveness
  • Helps align teams and reduce background noise
  • Resolving, preventing and managing conflict and stressors because of greater understanding and awareness of other people’s preferences

Maxwell´s high impact development workshop will provide valuable insights into how a team can develop more effective working relationships within the business and with key stakeholders
